![]() Under the previous system the aircraft was taken apart, inspected piece by piece, with new parts being requisitioned when needed. When the aircraft arrives at one of the battalion's maintenance companies ( Webmaster: 30th Trans Co (AAM) in Hanau and 247th Trams Co (AAM), probably in Mannheim), component parts are removed quickly and the new or reconstituted assembly is set in place. The 41st Bn keeps them flying by maintaining a quick-change assembly kit of major components for aircraft arriving for major periodic inspections. Soldier in photo is identified as belonging to the 130th Trans Co - this is probably a typo - should read "30th Trans Co" Parts are listed in three categories: useable, repairable, and junk. In the Sheet Metal Shop wings of airplanes are repaired. If a part that needs to be replaced is not available, they can be manufactured in the unit's Machine Shop. Helicopters undergo a mandatory inspection every 300 and 600 hours.
